Artist Guidelines 2016

  • All artists are invited to complete an Artist application and be approved for display at The Flatz before dates for display are reserved.
  • Unless otherwise stipulated, Artists are invited to show their work in The Flatz Ballroom for 25-31 days (typically one month)
  • Artists must provide insurance or a signed liability waiver to show work at The Flatz.
  • Load in and load out dates for exhibit must be approved by The Flatz Properties.
  • Hours of Gallery: Visitors may view artwork according to the hours of operation of The Big Bang Coffee Roasters. Check their website for hours as they may change. After hours showing may happen if approved in writing with The Flatz Properties.
  • If a work sells, the Artist will receive 75% of the sale price and The Flatz Properties will receive 25% of the sale price. All applicable tax payments are the responsibility of the Artist. The 25% that The Flatz Properties receives will be considered a “Gallery Hanging Fee.”
  • Display locations of artwork are to be arranged between the Artist and The Flatz Properties. As well, all hanging and/or display apparatus must be approved by The Flatz Properties before installation.
  • Each work should be properly labeled with some form of identification (title, dimensions, numbering, etc.) and either a price on the work or a price list on the premises (if the intention is to sell).
  • Art Openings/Artist Receptions:
    • Each artist has the option to hold an Art Opening or Artist Reception during the course of their exhibit.
    • The date and time of said reception should be coordinated with both The Flatz Properties and Big Bang Coffee Roasters.
    • The Artist may have the option to reconfigure tables and chairs in the Ballroom per discussion with The Flatz Properties.
    • Artists’ guests/visitors are invited to purchase food and beverages from Big Bang Coffee Roasters during the course of their reception.
    • Big Bang Coffee Roasters is the exclusive caterer for The Flatz; Outside food and beverages, including alcohol, are prohibited.
    • Receptions are limited to the hours of operation of Big Bang Coffee Roasters unless approved in writing by Big Bang Coffee Roasters.
    • Any other details to be included for an Artist reception (decor, set up, etc.) should be coordinated with The Flatz Properties.
