The Flatz Properties, LLC Launches Real Estate Initiative in Peekskill, New York

Monica Flaherty helms historic property development firm

Monica Flaherty established The Flatz Properties, LLC in the Fall of 2014 with the acquisition of five historic properties in downtown Peekskill, New York. Her enthusiastic energy, savvy business sense, and eye for real estate potential have been received positively by community members and business leaders alike.

The mission of The Flatz Properties is to purchase, revitalize, and hold historic properties; and rent at fair prices with ethical standards for tenants. The firm is contributing to the ongoing revitalization of downtown Peekskill. Ms. Flaherty sees great potential for development and growth in upper Westchester, and especially in the towns along the Hudson River Valley.

Monica began developing properties over 20 years ago after graduating from Harvard University with a degree in Government. Her development work in the greater Boston area concentrated on historic architecture. Flaherty’s family life led her well-regarded development work to Westchester County.

Her present concentration of properties are clustered along Main Street in downtown Peekskill. The holdings include over 30,000 square feet, 30 units and two parking lots. These commercial and mixed-use buildings are all over 100 years old. The corporate headquarters is located at 1008 Main Street, known by some as “The Pugsley Building,” (after one of the building’s first owners, Samuel Irving Pugsley) and by others as “The Pataki Building” (after the building’s long time tenant, Governor George Pataki).  This flagship property is undergoing renovations in preparation to celebrate its 150th anniversary this year.
