At the February 26 meeting of the Peekskill Business Improvement District (BID), Monica Flaherty received an endorsement by the local business community and was elected to the Peekskill BID Board of Directors.  Subsequently, on March 10, 2015 Monica was appointed by her fellow board members to the position of Vice-President. She is looking forward to serving in this capacity to bring about positive growth and change to Peekskill.

The Peekskill Daily Voice reported on both the election results and the board appointments on March 23, 2015.

Monica joins fellow BID board officers President Louie Lanza of the Hudson Room, Secretary Sol Miranda of EMBARK Peekskill, and Treasurer Giovanni Stiefelmann, a local property owner.

ABOUT THE PEEKSKILL BID

“The Peekskill Business Improvement District (“BID”) works to promote the growth and development of downtown Peekskill as an attractive place to live and do business through business recruitment and retention, marketing campaigns, capital improvements, beautification efforts, event sponsorship, and advocacy.

Founded in 1996 as a non-profit corporation, the Peekskill BID encompasses downtown’s Central Commercial District — a 25 block area home to national corporations, law firms, medical practices, non-profits, artists galleries and live/work studios, bustling restaurants and cafes, fitness studios, hi-tech design and soft-ware firms, and other specialty retailers.

The BID is primarily funded each year by a special tax levy on downtown property and business owners to be used on activities that strengthen commerce downtown.  All property and business owners within the Central Commercial District are members of the Peekskill BID, and the BID elects a Board of Directors to govern its activities and supervise the day-to-day management of the BID by a part-time Executive Director.”
